Albert Camus

Profile

Born in French-occupied Algeria. Albert Camus grew up questioning the state of Europe and the pain around him. Unable to serve his friends and family in the Second World War, Camus started feeling lost. During this time existentialism was gaining popularity in Europe. But Camus had different ideas. When philosophers around him were writing about existentialism, he wrote about how society treats existentialism. Camus developed his work around reality, which is popularly known as the philosophy of the absurd.

Camus's major works include:

  • The philosophy of the absurd.

  • The strangers.
